Application for 2007-2008 Who's Who

Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges is a national program established in 1934 for the purpose of honoring students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement during their college career in the areas of scholarship, leadership, and service.

Instructions for completing application

To be selected, applicants must meet certain criteria and demonstrate outstanding achievement in each of the areas of scholarship, leadership, and service. Selection to Who's Who is based upon achievement rather than information of recognition awarded by another source. For this reason, it is very important that you read and follow these instructions carefully. A narrative or descriptive format is recommended. Please describe each activity you wish to mention in only one of the three sections of the application. Provide dates wherever applicable. Include ONLY activities and work completed while enrolled at the University of Alabama.

SCHOLARSHIP: To be eligible for consideration, applicants must hold undergraduate senior status with at least 96 total credit hours, at least 32 of which were earned from the University of Alabama, and a cumulative 3.000 QPA. QPA is the primary determinant of scholastic achievement. Therefore, it is not necessary to list appearances on deans' list, memberships in scholastic honoraries, scholarships awarded, or any other honors you have received because of your scholastic performance in this section.

LEADERSHIP: Describe leadership positions, such as offices or committee chairs held. Also describe other specific leadership activities in which you have provided leadership to a group of others even though you may not have held an official leadership position. Do not list organizations in which you have been a member unless you have served in a leadership capacity in that organization.

SERVICE: Describe specific service activities in which you have personally and actively participated, including dates, hours, and service completed. Provide details so that the extent of your service activities can be ascertained. Do not list organizations in which you have been a member, nor service projects of organizations of which you have been a member.

Within the above guidelines applicants are encouraged to provide as much detail and/or explanation as necessary to create a clear and meaningful personal profile. If necessary, you may attach additional pages, but your resume will not be considered. Applications may be filled out at www.ferguson.ua.edu. The Applications deadline is 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2008.

Applications are due to the Who's Who Committee in the Ferguson Center, room 231, by 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 28, 2008.
